2FA Explained #
Some services offer an enhanced security feature called 2-Factor Authentication, or 2FA. This requires a secondary means of authenticating you with a randomly-generated code using a 2FA app, usually installed on your mobile device.
When activating 2FA for an account or service, you will be asked to scan (with your phone) a QR code that will automatically configure your service. In the future when you login, you’ll enter your username and password as usual, but then you will be prompted for your 2FA code. Once entered, you can access the service. This increases security because if someone doesn’t have your phone with the code, they won’t be able to login.
